ECELA language school

ECELA has schools in Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires and Bariloche (Argentina), Lima and Cusco (Peru). About 1,500 students enroll per year, the average age is between 20 and 30, and classes hold a maximum of 7 students. School facilities consist of five modern classroom buildings equipped with multiple classrooms, restrooms and student lounges. Reception greets all students upon their entrance to the school. Access to computers and the Internet is free to all students during hours of operation.

Courses

Intensive Group
(20 hours per week)
12 Spanish levels, which are broken down into two-week sessions.
Schedule:
Start dates every Monday, year round
Class time sessions are in the morning (9am-1pm) and in the afternoon (2pm-6pm).

Intensive Private
(10-20 hours per week)
Private lessons with a professor for more individualized attention; an excellent idea for professionals who seek a specialized vocabulary for specific situations. Individual (one-on-one) courses can begin any Monday.

Super Intensive
(group + private 25-30 hours per week)
Intensive program: both group (20 hours) and private (5-10 hours) classes.

Tutorial Sessions
Extra language assistance to work on problem areas. Every day a teacher is available to assist students in reviewing specific topics they may be struggling with. They can also provide reading suggestions, address questions related to homework, etc.

Additional offers

Spanish + Tango
Combination of Spanish course with a tango course, which includes one private and two group tango lessons per week. The program offers group and private lessons for rapid learning retention, so students can bring a little bit of Argentina back to their home country.

Spanish + Ski
Standard Spanish course + two weekly lift tickets; one during the week and another on the weekend. Free transportation (door-to-mountain, round trip), supplemental classes (students can attend tutorial sessions to make up for any missed class time).

Internships
(Santiago, Chile only):
Internships in different companies in Santiago (Chile), duration of two to nine months. All internships are unpaid. They are evaluated and supervised throughout the placement. Students may arrange for credit through their home university.

Volunteer:
Volunteer opportunities in different organizations.

Medical Shadowing:
Students can observe professionals interacting with patients in Spanish and are exposed to the similarities and differences between these patient-physician relationships and those in their home country.

Lodging

Accommodations with middle-class local families or in a shared appartment (private or shared room). Sheets and towels included, changed once a week. Phone calls may be received. Minimum stay one week.

Costs:

Group classes: 148-178 US$ per week, depending upon location. Private Courses: 190-390 US$ per week, depending upon location and amount of lessons. Housing: 75-260 US$, depending upon location and type of housing (apartment or family homestay). Course workbooks are provided on-site and are free of charge.
